VIA IDRO - I COMPAGNI DI ELYSON SCRIVONO AL SINDACO PISAPIA

Gentile signor sindaco,
siamo i bambini della classe 3A della scuola elementare “Russo-Pimentel” e vorremmo parlarle del problema di una bambina, Elyson.
Elyson è una nostra compagna che vive nel campo di via Idro. Là ha la sua casa, i suoi cagnolini, Nebbia e Fiocco, e un grande pino che il suo nonno aveva piantato quando si erano stabiliti lì, più di 25 anni fa.
Prima delle vacanze la maestra ci ha chiesto cosa desideravamo per Natale. Ognuno di noi ha detto cosa aveva scritto nella letterina a Babbo Natale, ma poi Elyson si è messa a piangere e così abbiamo saputo che lei stava passando un brutto Natale perché doveva abbandonare la sua casetta e andare a vivere in un container.
Noi abbiamo capito che un container è una specie di grande scatola di metallo...ma Elyson non è una bambola che può stare in una scatola!
Elyson è una compagna gentile, generosa, sempre sorridente e amichevole.Fin dalla prima è diventata la compagna preferita di Christopher, un nostro compagno speciale che non parla, ma che sta volentieri con lei.E quindi se Elyson se ne va, come potrà fare Christopher a stare con noi senza il suo aiuto? Anche lui soffrirà tantissimo!
La nostra classe è come un puzzle: ogni tanto si ingrandisce perché si uniscono nuove tessere, ma se nee perdiamo una, il puzzle non potrà più essere completo.
Abbiamo imparato che nessuno può vivere da solo e allora uniamo le nostre forze e le nostre voci per chiederle di lasciare Elyson e gli altri bambini del campo nelle loro case almeno finché non ce ne sarà un'altra pronta, ma vicina alla scuola, in modo che Elyson possa continuare a crescere con noi.
Signor sindaco ci aiuti, per favore, a mantenere unito il puzzle della nostra classe.

FURIO COLOMBO: I ROM (REGOLARI) DI VIA IDRO CHIEDONO AIUTO
I say gladly to the mayor of Milan,
person I know and I appreciate since
we were together parliamentarians,
that I add my name to the letter, sure
that he will face this issue (so serious
and so delicate because it touches so
many lives of people without power)
with the cautious attention to the life
and feelings of human beings, which
is his way of doing politics. I add, not
for mayor of Milan from which I expect
a reassuring intervention, but also for
all those who unwittingly or
unknowingly may still have slag
ancient prejudices against "gypsies",
which, unfortunately, the intersection
between local bureaucracies and
politics (including the national policy
that always forgets the weakest)
always leads to a typical and ugly solution: proceed with evictions (that make the news, especially in
the proximity of election periods) more quickly as possible, but without having a ready solution for the
people involved, for entire villages of families who have never broken the law. Nothing is more sad,
depressing and alarming of an eviction of a Roma camp, often in ways that are terrorizing the children.
Never happened to me, in many occasions when I have tried to be present, to be able to accompany
the Roma and Sinti evicted in new, decent places where to live appropriately prepared before the
eviction. What I learned when I was in charge of the Parliamentary Committee for Human Rights is
that evictions are organized not in relation to the life of the inhabitants of the camp, not because it
came to fruition a project of inclusion, but because it comes to relationships between parties that have
nothing to do with the interests and lives of those Italian citizens called Roma and Sinti treated as
mysterious bulky strangers which does not have the same rights as everyone. For all these reasons,
and because Giuliano Pisapia is still mayor of Milan, I am certain to get a quick answer to a peaceful
and humane solution to the problem via Idro camp in Milan.

Urgent: Protest Eviction of Italian Roma living in Milan
Radio Chiriklo (Ukraine) received an urgent e-mail with the request to disseminate the information about eviction of Italian Roma living in Milan.
Please see the information below:
We are the 20 families who immediately after Christmas holidays will be evicted from the regular Roma camp of via Idro in Milan in which we’re living regularly since 26 years. We are well included in the neighborhood in which we live, our children go regularly to school. Many of our ancestors during the Second World War were interned in Italian fascists concentration camps. We are Italian citizens and we do not understand why we have to leave our homes, why our children have to lose the school, their belongings, their friends.
As an alternative solution the Milan municipality offers us the containers of the Social Emergency Centers and Housing Autonomy Centres where the municipality already host the families evicted from the slums (they should be put out on street and leave their place to us after our eviction from our regular homes). In any case, these are temporary, precarious structures (containers of 12-15 square meters for families of 4-5 or more people). We could stay there for mostly one year and in this year the municipality should offer inclusion. We have serious doubts that this could happen (no one Roma family admitted to these centers in the last two years had a job or a house and they ended up on the street). Finally, who rejects the Emergency Centers would only have the forced eviction, the destruction of his house with all his stuff.
We ask the Milan municipality not to destroy our homes until there are no concrete housing and job solutions for us.
We ask you to support us in our efforts to maintain our dignity, to help us not to lose everything, not to be forced to start our lives all over again.
